【Abstract】 The Legend of the Condor Heroes:The Great Hero directed by Tsui Hark, as a “new martial arts” film, uses modern technology to construct a unique audio-visual spectacle in visual presentation, showcasing Tsui Hark’s innovative style. However, at the narrative level, the film attempts to cover many key plot points and grand worldviews of the original work within a limited time frame, but fails to handle the logical connection and rhythm control of the plot, resulting in a chaotic narrative rhythm, sometimes rapid and sometimes sluggish. In terms of character development, core characters such as Huang Rong and Guo Jing have been simplified and flattened. Huang Rong’s intelligence and versatility in the original work have been lost, while Guo Jing’s inner growth and struggles are not fully displayed, failing to fully explore the spiritual connotation of “the greatest hero, serving the country and the people”. These issues reflect the difficulties faced by film adaptations in dealing with complex original works, which sounds the alarm for the adaptation of martial arts films. Technical advantages must resonate with the depth of the play in order to promote the innovative development of martial arts films.更多还原
